TEENAGE PREGNANCY

Teenage pregnancy can be said as early pregnancy at age of 10 to 19 years aged, which is major health problem in Africa. 




   FACTOR CONTRIBUTING TO TEENAGE PREGNANCY 

1. lack of parental care
2. Lack of formal and informal education 
3. Lack of sex education 
4. peer group pressure 
5. negative family interaction 

 WHY TEENAGE PREGNANCY IS A PROBLEM

teenage pregnancy carry extra health risk to both mother and baby, often teens don't have parental care. 

 EFFECT TO THE BABY 

1. severe neonatal condition 
2. low birth weight 
3. premature birth 

 EFFECT TO THE MOTHER 

1. High risk of eclampsia
2. high blood pressure 
3. puerperal endometriosis 
4. systemic injection more than more mothers at aged if 20/24years

WHO IS AT RISK OF HAVING TEENAGE PREGNANCY 

1. Single parent home
2. living in home with frequent family conflicts 
3. Early sexual activity 
4. early used of alcohol and drugs

PREVENTION 

1. Teenage comprehensive, understanding, of contraceptives techniques (if married ) 
2. Sexual absence 

PARENT OR GUARDIANS ROLE TO PREVENT TEENAGE PREGNANCY 

1. Be clear about your own Sexual values and attitudes. Because it will be more easy for you to talk to your child if you have thought through these questions below :

a. Your own perception about school aged teens being Sexual active
b. Your own perception about teen getting pregnant 

2. talk to them early and more often about sex and love. Be specific, be honest and open. Listen carefully to find out what child already understands. Make your conversation back and forth. Because talking to them about sex will neither encourage them to be Sexual active. But they just need to know how relationships and sex are going. 
3. enlight them the difference of love and sex because teens are being deceived by that. 
4. discourage early, steady and frequent dating. 
5. take a strong stand against teens dating people who are significantly older than they are. 

CHILDREN MOST QUESTIONS PERTAINING TO SEX AND LOVE. 

1. How will I respond when my boyfriends pressure me to have sex. 
2. How will I tell my boyfriend I don't want to have sex without getting him hurt. 
     IN,Nigeria and other develop countries have atheist 10 million unintended pregnancy which occur each year among adolescent by aged of 10 to 19 aged.
